1. Separation of Dust Particles in a Cyclone

A Cyclone separator is used to separate the dust particles in a flow stream where the dust gets collected at the bottom. This is widely used in process industry and for filtering particles in various devices. At CAEC we have used analytical approaches and Computational Fluid Dynamics tool to predict the performance by measuring the pressure drop inside the cyclone. The streamlines on the right show the flow path of the fluid through the cyclone. The contour image on the left shows the pressure at different section planes in the cyclone.

2. CHT Analysis of OTG

An Oven, Toaster, Grill (OTG) is essentially a smaller version of a traditional oven. OTG oven uses a heating coil to cook food and it can control the temperature, ensuring the proper cooking of food.

Heat is generated in the heating plates and the temperature is transferred throughout the oven with the help of a fan. This is used for heating up the food. At CAEC, we have modelled the thermal analysis of convection oven to understand the distribution of temperature inside the oven along with food. The Animated GIF shows the temperature distribution inside the oven. The figures show the flow streamlines moving on the food towards the fan.

3. CFD Analysis of FDA Nozzle

In order to validate numerical methods and codes used for biomedical flow computations, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) established an experimental benchmark, which was a flow through nozzle. At CAEC, we have modelled the flow based on the benchmark conditions and the axial velocity computed, was found to be in close agreement with the experimental results. The flow pattern inside the nozzle can be clearly seen in the streamlines and velocity contours.

4. THERMAL ANALYSIS OF WAND-VAC BATTERY MODULE

Battery of a Wand vacuum cleaner had surface temperature very close to cut off temperature, charging of the battery was not possible until the temperature settles down.
